The 8th Annual Festival
celebrating mod movies that rock...

July 13th - August 1st 2007
Los Angeles

Welcome to the Official Website of the 8th Annual Mods & Rockers Film Festival - presented by The American Cinematheque in Hollywood. Regular festival-goers will notice that we have a brand-new logo and a fresh-look website. Time rocks on and as the festival has evolved and expanded from its initial incarnation in 1999 - we thought it was time to reflect those changes. One thing hasn't changed though. We are still dedicated to our core mission. Which is presenting great movies that celebrate rock music and pop culture - on the silver screen.

Watching DVDs on a big-screen TV at home is all well and good. But it doesn't remotely compare with experiencing movies on our gigantic 60-foot screen at the Egyptian Theatre. With 30,000 watts of sound pumping out of 60 surround-sound speakers!

(Or the 45-foot screen with 20,000 watt sound system at our second location - The Aero Theatre in Santa Monica!)

Paul McCartney lends a hand during filming of What's Happening! The film receives its West Coast Premiere on the festival's Opening Night.

On top of that - nearly half of the films we are presenting this year are NOT ON DVD! Several have never even been on VHS or seen on US TV! So if you are passionate about great rock 'n' roll themed movies - read on and prepare to rock!

The 2007 festival has a slew of highlights including several premieres - many lost classics - and celebrations of the 40th Anniversary of the Monterey Festival, the 50th Anniversary of Stax Records and the 60th Anniversary of Atlantic Records! In-person appearances by top musicians and filmmakers!

There are some fabulous added attractions to this year's festival.

We have ROCK LIKE AN EGYPTIAN! - a FREE open-air concert where you will hear live performances of the biggest hits by The Beatles • Stones • Who • Kinks • Animals • Yardbirds • Zombies • Hendrix • Airplane • Janis Joplin • Mamas & Papas - and that's before you see our two headline artists - British rock icon Spencer Davis and iconic singer-songwriter Stephen Bishop!

Backstage at the Monterey Festival 1967 - Painting by Grace Slick

We have THE ART OF ROCKERS! - a FREE open-air art gallery where you will see and can buy great original artworks, limited-edition prints, iconic photographs, handwritten lyrics - created by some of the world's best-known musicians and artists. The artists whose work will be on display include: Grace Slick • Ronnie Wood • Jimi Hendrix • Janis Joplin • John Lennon.

We have THE MODS & ROCKERS CLUBHOUSE - a private late-night haunt situated right next door to the Egyptian Theatre. The clubroom will be exclusive to the festival and will always play music themed to that night's movies - keeping the evening's vibe going! Open till 2am!

There are also some wonderful innovations on this year's website.

One big breakthrough is that you can now buy festival tickets instantly online through this website. Many of this year's presentations are going to sell out - so this new convenience will come in handy.

You can also join THE MODS & ROCKERS MAILING LIST. (Guaranteed to never be sold or shared with anyone else!) You will be kept up to date on all Festival news!

So browse through the goodies you will find at the festival - share this website with your pals and get ready for a summer of gloriously mod movies that rock!
